West Coast Raptors

Sigri & Sigri Island ( Copyright T D Wright )
This vantage point afforded me good views of the Sigri & Faneromenis area. It was also an excellent raptor watchpoint but more of that later. If you pan across to the right from here you will see this view as well...

The dark line of trees you can see is where the Golden Orioles get, plus lots of flycatchers and warblers. The adjacent fields and hedgerows held all 4 shrikes, and I picked up a ringtail Pallid Harrier here. There is always a likelihood of Lesser Kestrel, Short-toed Eagle and Eleonora's too. The latter eluded my camera but I managed some shots of the others...

Fortunately it's a stonking male! I have a theory that the reason there are so many bright yellow birds on Lesvos is because it's better camouflage in the Sun. Natural Selection in action. ( Just kidding ). But here's another poser for you. What do you think this is?
