Short-eared, long-winged Owl

It's all happening now in the Axmouth area. Nothing much on the sea, but Coronation Corner and Axe Cliff are getting a lot of visitors, not just birds but birders too. I already showed you the Iceland gull plus there are Meds at C.C., so I ventured along the muddy lanes to bring you the golf course owl. On Saturday, the 'Dotterel' field held it plus up to 6 Stonechats and several Skylark, but the place to photograph it is the golf course, which can be viewed from the coastal path. It seems like it's hanging around, as botanist Mike Lock put us all to shame by finding it on Friday. On Monday it was still present and I managed to get some pics. We also still have Black Redstart at Seaton Hole apparently.

My next objective is to photograph it from Seaton Hole ( in background )!

It seems to like the Ninth Tee area. We saw it catch prey around here.

  1. Love that back on hovering shot, with the sun shining through the flight feathers and tail. Such a shame about those telegraph wires but the bird looks stunning. Nice one!
